TECNALIA on making EnduRAI Work in Real Factories – An Interview with Ander Martín

In this interview, Ander Martín explains why the step from controlled testing to live production is where innovation proves itself.

The factory is a place of sweat, vibration, electromagnetic interference, long hours, and production pressure. TECNALIA Research & Innovation ensures our technologies can withstand these conditions in EnduRAI. In our new video interview, Ander Martín from TECNALIA tells us about the company, its involvement in the project, and how it brings research into industry. T

TECNALIA leads EnduRAI’s pilots, evaluation and validation work. This is where the project’s sEMG wristbands, multimodal AI models and adaptive interfaces will be implemented and then tested in two challenging industry environments: high-precision pulley production at GOSAN, and welding in confined spaces at Cemre Shipyard.

TECNALIA is also responsible for integrating the wearable prototypes and testing them experimentally under industrial conditions. The iterative process of design, build and test is applied to the prototypes. They are initially stress-tested in the lab, including vibration, thermal cycling, electromagnetic interference, and sweat simulation. They are then worn by operators with various profiles during the welding, forming and assembling processes.

From controlled tests to live production

When a technology moves to a live environment, it can no longer operate under optimal conditions. In the interview, Ander discusses the main difficulties and what could have gone wrong during that transfer.

Making a breakthrough a success

If a research result is useful to industry, it must operate smoothly, shift after shift, for the people who will use it. Worker comfort, strong signal quality, and solutions that work with existing workflows, not against them, are critical to EnduRAI. Be sure to watch the entire interview.
